Computational approaches to developmental biology.

I wanted to learn some more GPU computing, and particle shaders seemed like a fun thing to learn about. So I decided to try and recreate a game in Godot that mimics Cosmic Sugar, and old VR title that blew my mind back in the days. From this I created a tutorial so that others can do the same.

A collaboration with Beatrice Steiner, where I narrate what I believe micro dissection leads to in the researcher's behavior.

This is a Unity 3D app to observe Volumetric data in VR. The goal of this application is to load volumetric data produced by LightSheet Microscopes, Confocal Z_stacks, or other form of microscopy such as MRI. You are projected in a room, where you can load your datasets, and handle, manipulate, observe and adjust the images.

Our analysis revealed unforeseen patterns in how phenotypes respond to dietary restriction. Our generalized linear model showed that when considering only two generations, offspring phenotypes were primarily affected by their own diet, and to a lesser extent by the diet of their parents or the interaction between the two generations.

Our research shows that gene origin processes often considered highly unusual, including HGT and de novo coding region evolution, can give rise to novel genes that can both participate in pre-existing gene regulatory networks, and also facilitate the evolution of novel developmental mechanisms.
